Head - Debt Market (Deal Placement Desk)

Location: Mumbai (Goregaon East)

Role Overview:

The Head of the Debt Market Deal Placement Desk will be responsible for leading the placement of fixed-income instruments with institutional and high-net-worth investors. The role involves building and managing strong relationships with key investors, ensuring successful deal closures, optimizing pricing and distribution strategies, and driving revenue growth for the desk. The position requires deep knowledge of the debt capital market, investor appetite, and regulatory landscape.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Debt Placement Desk, overseeing end-to-end execution of debt issuances and placements.
  • Develop and implement placement strategies to maximize investor participation across bonds, NCDs, securitized debt instruments, structured products, and private placements.
  • Manage investor relationships with mutual funds, insurance companies, pension funds, banks, family offices, and corporates.
  • Coordinate with origination teams to ensure effective deal structuring and successful distribution.
  • Oversee book-building processes, price discovery, and allocation of securities.
  • Track investor demand, market sentiment, and regulatory developments to refine placement strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with SEBI, RBI, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing placement team.
  • Drive revenue targets and P&L for the Placement Desk.
  • Represent the organization in market forums, investor meets, and industry events.

Key Requirements:

  • Postgraduate degree in Finance, Economics, or related field; CFA/CA/MBA preferred.
  • years of experience in Debt Capital Markets, with at least 5 years in a leadership role in placements/sales.
  • Strong track record of closing large debt transactions with institutional investors.
  • Excellent knowledge of fixed-income products, credit analysis, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Deep network of relationships with buy-side investors (MFs, insurers, pension funds, treasuries, etc.).
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Analytical mindset with ability to interpret market trends and investor behavior.
