Job Title: Head - Debt Market (Deal Sourcing Desk)

Location: Mumbai - Goregaon East

Role Overview:

The Head of Debt Market - Deal Sourcing Desk will be responsible for identifying, originating, and sourcing high-quality debt market opportunities. This role involves building strong relationships with corporates, financial institutions, and intermediaries to generate mandates for debt issuances. The position requires a sharp understanding of credit markets, structuring capabilities, and the ability to translate client requirements into executable transactions for successful placement by the distribution desk.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Debt Sourcing Desk with focus on origination of bond/NCD issues, structured debt, securitized products, and private placements.
  • Build and manage client relationships with corporates, PSUs, NBFCs, banks, and financial institutions to source debt raising mandates.
  • Work closely with corporate treasuries and CFOs to understand financing requirements and design optimal structures.
  • Drive origination pipeline across public and private debt issuance markets.
  • Negotiate and finalize mandates, ensuring competitive advantage in deal sourcing.
  • Collaborate with the placement desk and syndicate teams to align sourcing with investor appetite.
  • Track market developments, credit trends, and sectoral dynamics to identify new opportunities.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance (SEBI, RBI, Companies Act) during deal origination and structuring.
  • Manage, mentor, and grow the sourcing team to deliver business targets.
  • Achieve P&L responsibility for the sourcing desk and contribute to overall DCM revenue growth.

Key Requirements:

  • Postgraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Commerce, or related field; CFA/CA/MBA preferred.
  • 12 -20 years of experience in Debt Capital Markets/Corporate Banking/Investment Banking, with strong exposure to debt origination.
  • Proven track record of originating large-ticket debt transactions across industries.
  • Strong corporate relationships with treasuries, CFOs, and promoters.
  • In-depth understanding of debt instruments, structuring, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Excellent negotiation, deal-making, and client management skills.
  • Leadership ability to drive business and manage a high-performing team.
