Assistant Manager: Distribution & Channel Sales (West)

Location: Mumbai, West India

Department: Sales Distribution & Channel

Role Purpose

The Assistant Manager Distribution & Channel Sales (West) will be responsible for driving topline growth, market share, and retail expansion through strong channel partnerships across the western region of India. This role demands deep expertise in distribution management, strategic sell-in and sell-out execution, and partner relationship building. The ideal candidate will operate as an individual contributor, owning end-to-end accountability for field accounts, OTB planning, space acquisition, and alignment with adidas brand priorities.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Revenue Management

  • Achieve assigned sales targets through the acquisition of new business and the growth of existing field accounts.
  • Build and manage Open-to-Buy (OTB) plans with distribution and retail partners to drive monthly revenue goals.
  • Monitor and influence both primary and secondary sales across all accounts.

Channel Partner Management

  • Build and maintain strategic, long-term relationships with distribution and MBO (multi-brand outlet) partners.
  • Conduct regular reviews and market visits to support partners in achieving business KPIs.
  • Collaborate closely with channel stakeholders to improve operational efficiency and sales outcomes.

Retail Expansion & Space Acquisition

  • Create and execute door-level strategies with a focus on acquiring prime retail spaces.
  • Ensure maximum brand visibility and assortment availability across key retail locations.

Planning & Forecasting

  • Develop seasonal assortments and account-level forecasts based on category and market insights.
  • Present persuasive, data-backed sales proposals to drive both sell-in and sell-out performance.

Operational Execution

  • Ensure timely and accurate execution of order tracking, confirmations, deliveries, cancellations, and product launches.
  • Coordinate closely with internal teams (finance, supply chain, planning) for smooth operations and cash flow management.

Financial Management

  • Lead commercial discussions including pricing, credit terms, and profitability management.
  • Ensure timely collections and maintain strong financial discipline across the account base.

Market Intelligence

  • Monitor competitor activity, category trends, and consumer behavior to inform strategic decisions.
  • Adjust sales and account plans based on evolving market dynamics.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Min 10-15years of relevant experience in distribution/channel sales and retail operations.
  • Proven track record in managing distribution partners, retail expansion, and sales targets.
  • Industry background in footwear, apparel/fashion.
  • Prior experience working with MBOs, regional distributors, and key retailers is essential.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of sales strategy, territory planning, and partner engagement
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Financial acumen with exposure to P&L discussions and credit management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
  • High ownership, self-motivated, and results-driven mindset
  • Strong understanding of retail landscapes in Western India
