We have an opportunity for Business Development Manager at our HO - Mumbai.
Role & responsibilities
Business Development Manager - Online Bidder: Focuses specifically on identifying and winning business through online bidding platforms.
Core responsibilities
Opportunity identification and analysis
- Proactively monitor tender portals (e.g., GeM, CPPP, state-specific portals) to identify relevant tender and bid opportunities.
- Analyze tender documents, including Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Quotations (RFQs), and other notices, to understand the technical, commercial, and legal requirements.
- Conduct bid/no-bid analysis to evaluate the company's capacity, resource availability, and profitability potential before deciding to participate.
- Perform market research and competitor analysis to inform bid strategy and identify the company's competitive advantage.
Bid development and preparation
- Lead the creation of high-quality proposals and bid documents, including technical proposals, financial bids, and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders across various departments (sales, legal, finance, technical, operations) to gather necessary inputs and ensure the proposal is accurate and complete.
- Develop compelling bid content, including executive summaries, value propositions, and win themes, that address the client's specific needs.
- Manage the bid timeline, assigning tasks and deadlines to team members to ensure all requirements are met on time.
Bid submission and management
- Manage the entire bid submission process on relevant online portals, ensuring all documents are uploaded correctly and submitted before the deadline.
- Address any queries or requests for clarification from the tendering authority during the pre-bid and evaluation phases.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to gain deeper insight into the tender requirements.
Post-bid activities and strategy
- Track bid status and follow up with procurement officers to stay informed on the evaluation process.
- Participate in contract negotiations and clarification sessions to secure the most favorable terms for the company.
- Conduct post-bid reviews to analyze results, identify areas for improvement, and update the internal bid library with best practices.
- Maintain accurate records of all tender activities, including wins, losses, and feedback, to generate reports for management.
Required skills and qualifications
- Proven experience in bid management, tender filing, or a related business development role.
- Experience in a specific industry (e.g., construction, manufacturing) or with government procurement portals (e.g., GeM) is often preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on proposal writing.
- Strong project management, time-management, and organizational skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel, as well as bid management software and CRM systems.
Preferred candidate profile
- A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field is typically required.
- Experience in online bid, Government tenders and GeM portal will an added advantage.
