Role Overview:

As the Head of Product Development, you will report directly to the Head of Manufacturing and spearhead a dedicated team of 12-14 product developers. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee the end-to-end development of area rugs, carpets, carpet tiles, and wall-to-wall carpets. This role demands an individual who is not only strategic but also hands-on, willing to engage on the shop floor and collaborate closely with marketing and customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor the product development team to foster innovation and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with marketing and clients to gather requirements and translate them into product samples and prototypes.
  • Manage the entire product development cycle from concept to completion, ensuring alignment with customer specifications.
  • Develop and implement technical solutions based on a deep understanding of manufacturing processes and materials.
  • Enhance product quality and performance, utilize expertise in machine tufting, yarn types (POY/BCF), texturing, heat setting, coating, and latex/PVC.
  • Ensure all products meet industry standards and customer expectations through rigorous testing and quality control measures.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in product development within the carpets and rugs industry.
  • Strong technical knowledge of carpet manufacturing processes and materials - including machine tufting.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing a diverse team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and adapt to changing priorities.
