Accounts Manager
Job Summary:
The Accounts Manager will oversee the complete financial management, accounting operations, compliance, and reporting activities of the organization. The role involves maintaining accurate books of accounts, managing statutory obligations, ensuring timely payments and collections, and supporting business decisions with financial analysis and insights.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations including journal entries, ledgers, and reconciliations.
- Prepare and maintain financial statements- Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss Account, and Cash Flow Statements.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance of all accounting records with applicable laws and company policies.
- Perform monthly and annual closing activities within stipulated timelines.
- Coordinate with auditors for statutory and internal audits.
2. Budgeting & Financial Planning
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
- Monitor departmental and project-wise budgets, identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Provide financial insights to management for decision-making.
3. Accounts Payable & Receivable Management
- Supervise vendor payments, purchase invoices, and ensure timely disbursements as per company policy.
- Oversee billing, collections, and credit control functions to maintain healthy cash flow.
- Regularly reconcile customer and vendor accounts.
4. Taxation & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all statutory requirementsGST, TDS, Income Tax, EPF, ESI, Professional Tax, etc.
- Handle GST filing, TDS returns, and other periodic statutory submissions.
- Liaise with tax consultants and government authorities for assessments, audits, or queries.
5. Payroll & Employee Benefits Accounting
- Verify and process monthly payroll data in coordination with the HR department.
- Ensure timely deposit and filing of PF, ESI, and other employee-related statutory payments.
- Maintain proper records of employee advances, reimbursements, and settlements.
6. Internal Controls & Process Improvement
- Establish and maintain internal control systems to safeguard company assets.
- Review and optimize accounting procedures for efficiency and compliance.
- Implement automation tools and accounting software updates (e.g., Tally, ERP, SAP).
7. Banking & Treasury Management
- Handle banking relationships, fund transfers, and loan documentation.
- Prepare daily cash flow and fund utilization reports.
- Manage working capital requirements effectively.
8. Audit Coordination
- Coordinate with statutory, internal, and external auditors.
- Prepare schedules, reconciliations, and explanations for audit queries.
- Ensure implementation of audit recommendations.
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of Accounting Standards, GST, TDS, and Income Tax Laws.
- Proficiency in Tally ERP, MS Excel, and accounting/ERP systems.
- Analytical thinking and attention to detail.
- Leadership skills with the ability to manage a small team of accountants/executives.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills (internal & external stakeholders).
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: B.Com / M.Com / MBA (Finance) / CA (Inter) or equivalent.
- Experience: 510 years of experience in accounting and finance.
- Exposure: Working with contractors, compliance-heavy industries, or government tenders.
Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Timeliness and accuracy of financial reporting.
- Statutory compliance adherence rate.
- Efficiency in receivables collection and payment cycles.
- Successful audit completion without major observations.
- Budget vs. actual variance management.
