Job Title: Tender Head / Head Tendering & Estimation

Location: Pune, Maharashtra

Position Overview

The Tender Head will lead the tendering and estimation function, ensuring accurate costing, timely submission of bids, and strategic pricing to secure profitable projects. This role requires a deep understanding of the construction contracting business, cost structures, market trends, and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Tendering & Estimation

  • Lead and manage the entire tendering process from identification of opportunities to bid submission.
  • Analyze tender documents, drawings, specifications, and BOQs to prepare comprehensive cost estimates.
  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and project teams for technical and commercial inputs.
  • Evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotations for pricing accuracy and competitiveness.
  • Develop cost databases for materials, equipment, and labor to maintain estimation accuracy.

2. Strategic Planning

  • Identify upcoming tenders and bidding opportunities aligned with company goals.
  • Formulate bid strategies including pricing, risk analysis, and value engineering.
  • Benchmark competition and market pricing to enhance win ratio.
  • Participate in management reviews for bid/no-bid decisions.

3. Documentation & Compliance

  • Ensure timely and complete preparation of technical and commercial proposals.
  • Review and approve tender documentation before submission.
  • Coordinate with legal and finance teams to ensure compliance with contract terms and statutory requirements.

4. Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the tendering & estimation team.
  • Allocate tasks, monitor progress, and ensure high-quality outputs under tight deadlines.
  • Foster collaboration between tendering, design, and execution departments.

5. Client Interaction & Negotiation

  • Liaise with clients, consultants, and government authorities for tender clarifications and negotiations.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings and technical discussions.
  • Support management during contract finalization and handover to project teams.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: B.E./B.Tech in Civil / Mechanical Engineering (preferred).
  • Experience: Minimum 15–25 years in tendering, estimation, and contracts within the construction contracting industry.
  • Proven experience in industrial, infrastructure, or warehouse construction projects.
  • Strong exposure to EPC / turnkey tenders and public-private projects is an advantage.
