About the Role

Bakemate Group is looking for a dynamic and results-driven
General Manager – Operations
to lead and manage one of our largest state-of-the-art manufacturing plants with a production capacity exceeding
5,000 tons
. The plant operations span across
Biscuit Manufacturing, Bakery Operations, Flat Wafers, Wafer Rolls, Confectionery (including Lollipops), Chocolates, and Panned Confectionery
.

The incumbent will be responsible for
end-to-end plant operations
—from raw material inflow to finished goods dispatch—while ensuring operational excellence, productivity, cost optimization, compliance, and people management.

Key Responsibilities

1. Plant Operations Management

• Oversee daily operations across all manufacturing lines, ensuring optimal output and quality standards.
• Monitor production schedules, align capacity utilization, and ensure timely delivery of customer orders.
• Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices).
• Drive automation and process improvement to enhance efficiency.

2. Strategic Planning & Execution

• Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with business goals.
• Create annual and monthly production plans, budgets, and resource allocations.
• Identify and execute cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality.

3. Quality, Compliance & Safety

• Ensure strict adherence to
  FSSAI, ISO, BRC, and other relevant quality and food safety standards
  .
• Collaborate with Quality Assurance teams to implement corrective and preventive measures.
• Drive a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with statutory and environmental regulations.

4. Supply Chain & Inventory Management

• Coordinate with procurement, warehousing, and logistics to ensure uninterrupted material supply.
• Maintain optimal inventory levels for raw materials, packaging, and finished goods.
• Reduce wastage and control shrinkage through robust inventory management practices.

5. People & Performance Management

• Lead, mentor, and manage a large workforce, including blue-collar and managerial staff.
• Implement skill development and training programs to enhance team capabilities.
• Build a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

6. Stakeholder & Vendor Management

• Negotiate with vendors, contractors, and service providers to ensure cost efficiency and quality service.
• Liaise with cross-functional teams including Sales, Marketing, R&D, Finance, and HR for smooth operations.
• Represent the plant during audits, client visits, and senior management reviews.

7. Continuous Improvement & Innovation

• Implement Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and Six Sigma methodologies for process excellence.
• Stay updated with industry trends and introduce innovative manufacturing techniques.
• Initiate energy-saving and sustainability projects to improve plant efficiency.

Desired Candidate Profile

• Education:
  B.Tech / M.Tech in Food Technology / Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience:
• 15+ years
  in FMCG manufacturing operations, preferably in Biscuits, Bakery, Chocolates, or Confectionery.
• Proven track record of managing large-scale manufacturing units with high manpower strength.
• Strong understanding of food safety, quality systems, automation, and process control.
• Skills & Competencies:
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent negotiation and vendor management capabilities.
• Analytical mindset with problem-solving abilities.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
