Foundation Year Coordinator

**Job Title**: Foundation Year Coordinator (Nursery to Grade 2)

**Location**: Kanakia International School - CBSE, Chembur [Mumbai]

**Reports to**: Principal

**Job Purpose**: The Foundation Year Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing and managing the academic and administrative activities for students in Nursery to Grade 2. The role focuses on ensuring a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where young learners can thrive, in alignment with the CBSE guidelines, the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, and the school's educational philosophy.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Curriculum Management**:

- Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum for nursery to Grade 2 students, ensuring alignment with CBSE standards.
- Collaborate with teachers to design lesson plans, learning activities, and teaching strategies that cater to the developmental needs of early learners, with a focus on experiential learning and play-based education.
- Regularly review and update the curriculum to incorporate new teaching methodologies, including multidisciplinary approaches and competency-based education.
- **Teacher Supervision and Support**:

- Provide guidance, mentoring, and professional development opportunities for foundation year teachers to help them understand and implement NEP-aligned pedagogies.
- Conduct classroom observations and provide constructive feedback to improve teaching practices in line with NEP’s emphasis on inquiry-based, child-centric learning.
- Facilitate team meetings to discuss challenges, share resources, and promote collaboration among teachers.
- **Student Development**:

- Monitor and assess the academic, social, and emotional progress of students, with special focus on achieving foundational literacy and numeracy.
- Implement early intervention programs for students who require additional support, promoting inclusive education.
- Foster an environment that encourages creativity, curiosity, and critical thinking through experiential learning and play-based activities.
- **Parent Communication**:

- Serve as the main point of contact for parents regarding the academic and emotional development of their children.
- Organize parent-teacher meetings, workshops, and other events to engage parents in their child's education, particularly in fostering foundational literacy and numeracy skills.
- Address any concerns or issues raised by parents in a timely and professional manner.
- **Administration and Coordination**:

- Oversee daily operations within the Foundation section, including class schedules, timetables, and student placements, ensuring they align with NEP 2020 recommendations for age-appropriate learning.
- Ensure proper record-keeping and documentation, including student attendance, assessments, and progress reports.
- Liaise with the school administration to ensure smooth functioning of the Foundation years within the larger school framework, incorporating NEP’s vision for a multidisciplinary and integrated approach.
- **Event Planning**:

- Plan and coordinate special events, celebrations, and field trips for foundation year students, promoting cultural awareness and holistic development
- Organize extracurricular activities that promote holistic development, including arts, sports, and cultural programs.

**Key Skills and Qualifications**:

- Minimum 5 years of experience in early childhood or primary education, preferably within a CBSE or equivalent curriculum.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team of educators.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in technology tools used for classroom management and communication.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹45,000.00 per month
