**Key responsibilities-**
- The Head of Transportation in the cold chain business within the logistics industry is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of transportation operations within the cold chain division. This role involves strategic planning, operational execution, team management, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure the safe, efficient, and timely movement of temperature-sensitive goods throughout the supply chain.
- Develop and implement the transportation strategy for the cold chain division in alignment with overall business objectives.
- Identify opportunities to optimize transportation routes, modes, and carriers to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Collaborate with other departments to align transportation strategies with warehousing, procurement, and customer requirements.
- Oversee the end-to-end transportation process, including scheduling, routing, loading, and tracking of cold chain shipments.
- Lead and manage a team of transportation professionals, including drivers, dispatchers, and logistics coordinators.
- Foster a culture of safety, quality, and operational excellence among the transportation team.
- Develop and maintain relationships with transportation carriers, third-party logistics providers, and suppliers.
- Negotiate transportation contracts, rates, and terms to optimize cost and service level agreements.
- Stay abreast of technological advancements in cold chain transportation, such as real-time monitoring systems and telematics.
- Identify and implement innovative solutions to enhance visibility, traceability, and efficiency within the transportation network.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process enhancements and drive operational efficiency.
