Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to join our vegetarian restaurant in India. As a Sous Chef, you will play a key role in supporting the Head Chef in the day-to-day culinary operations, ensuring the delivery of exceptional vegetarian dishes that showcase creativity, taste, and quality. You will be responsible for maintaining high culinary standards, supervising the kitchen staff, and contributing to menu development while upholding the restaurant's commitment to sustainability and ethical sourcing.
**Responsibilities**:
Culinary Excellence:Collaborate with the Head Chef to design and execute innovative and diverse vegetarian dishes that cater to different tastes and dietary requirements.
Ensure all dishes are prepared and presented to the highest standards, maintaining consistency in taste, texture, and presentation.
Stay updated with the latest culinary trends and techniques, incorporating them into the menu when appropriate.
Kitchen Supervision:Oversee the kitchen team's day-to-day operations, ensuring efficient and smooth functioning of the kitchen.
Lead and motivate kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
Delegate tasks appropriately, monitor their progress, and provide guidance and support when needed.
Quality Control:Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards in the kitchen, following local health regulations.
Conduct regular inspections of ingredients and supplies, ensuring freshness and quality are maintained at all times.
Monitor portion control and minimize food wastage through effective inventory management.
Menu Development:Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop and update the restaurant's menu, incorporating seasonal and locally-sourced ingredients.
Consider feedback from customers and staff to make informed decisions about menu improvements and changes.
Training and Development:Provide training and mentorship to junior kitchen staff, helping them develop their culinary skills and knowledge.
Encourage a culture of learning and growth within the kitchen team.
Sourcing and Sustainability:Work closely with suppliers and vendors to source the best-quality vegetarian ingredients, emphasizing sustainability and ethical practices.
Maintain a network of local suppliers to support the restaurant's commitment to fresh and seasonal produce.
**Requirements**:
Culinary Experience:Proven experience as a Sous Chef or similar role in a vegetarian restaurant or a restaurant with a significant vegetarian menu.
A strong understanding of vegetarian cuisine, including various cooking techniques and international flavors.
Culinary Skills:Proficiency in preparing and presenting a wide range of vegetarian dishes with an emphasis on taste, texture, and presentation.
Knowledge of Indian vegetarian cuisine and its regional variations is highly desirable.
Leadership Abilities:Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise kitchen staff, ensuring a cohesive and efficient team dynamic.
Excellent communication skills to convey instructions clearly and coordinate with other departments.
Creativity and Adaptability:A passion for culinary innovation, with the ability to create unique and visually appealing vegetarian dishes.
Flexibility and adaptability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Food Safety and Hygiene:Thorough knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards, adhering to local regulations and maintaining a clean kitchen environment.
Education and Certifications:A degree or diploma in culinary arts or a related field is preferred.
Additional certifications in food safety or kitchen management are advantageous.

**Salary**: ₹20,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
