**Job Title: Sommelier
Function: F&B Service
Location: Lonavala
Major accountabilities of the position:
- Excellent organizational skills; be able to function under time constraints and deadlines with attention to detail
- Excellent knowledge of all beverage products, menu items and equipment used to perform these duties
- Effective listening abilities and be able to make strong judgment calls
- Strong overall knowledge of beverage preparation and presentation
- Able to lead and mentor a team
- Excellent interpersonal skills to deal effectively with guests, management, employees and other outside contacts
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to establish guidelines for proper staffing to maximize efficiency and minimize labor costs
- Ability to effectively communicate in English, in both oral and written forms
**Responsibilities**:
- Provides Luxury service to guests in a courteous and professional manner
- Conducts Line-Up and daily training, development and supervision of Sommelier, Waiters, Bartenders, Bar Waiters, Assistant Waiters, and Bar Utility
- Anticipating the needs of guests by ensuring all supplies are readily available before and during service, maintaining a clean, safe and accident-free environment, and immediately responding to needs of all guests and coworkers
- Supervising and assisting with the setup, cleaning, and breaking down of bars and maintaining equipment, supplies, goods and all work areas, reporting any issues to leadership
- Inventory processes including requisitions, receiving, moving and stocking products according to FIFO
- Ensuring constant readiness for and assisting with any and all Public Health and Health Code Inspections whether conducted internally or with officials
- Advance planning, coordination and oversight of execution of special events in partnership with beverage brands
- Ensuring all wine lists are always up-to-date and all listed products are available and readily accessible for service
- Ensuring Compliance with Public Health and all Safety and Labor Regulations
- Model and hold others accountable for daily operations
- Ensures the Daily execution of Line-up in accordance with company standards
- Sets the department’s expectations for desired behavior, knowledge and skill levels
- Coaches others by providing constructive feedback; helps others identify developmental needs and monitors progress; promoting an environment where everyone is valued and included
- Demonstrates alignment with corporate strategies and initiatives
- Utilizes interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and encourage others; advocates sound financial/business decision making; demonstrates honesty and integrity; leads by example
- Coordinates and maintains on-going training program and its’ execution
- Maintains and delivers a comprehensive and engaging on-boarding program which successfully welcomes and integrates new employees into the operation and provides the foundation for their career with the brand to grow.
Experience and qualifications required for the job:
- WSET Level 3, Court of Master Sommeliers Advanced or equivalent certification in beverage knowledge
- Previous Head Sommelier, or Beverage Manager experience in a five-star restaurant or onboard a luxury cruise restaurant environment
- Strong knowledge and experience in Public Health Rules and Regulations related to HACCP
- Excellent working knowledge of beverage (wine, beers, spirits, cocktails, mocktails etc)
- 9-10 years with atleast 1-2 years of experience in the same role with good luxury brands
**Minimum Qualification**: WSET Level 3, Court of Master Sommeliers Advanced or equivalent certification in beverage knowledge
