JD - Accounts Manager
The Accounts Manager to oversee financial operations specific to the publication unit, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance. The role involves managing day-to-day accounting tasks, financial analysis, and contributing to the financial health of the department while ensuring the expenses, revenues, and budgets are aligned with organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Management :
- Oversee the financial operations ,including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
- Prepare financial reports and statements, including profit and loss accounts, balance sheets, and cash flow forecasts.
- Monitor departmental budgets and provide variance analysis on actual vs. forecast performance.
- Budgeting and Forecasting :
- Assist in preparing annual budgets
- Collaborate with editorial and marketing teams to forecast sales, revenues, and production costs.
- Monitor monthly performance against budgets and provide recommendations to department heads.
- Compliance and Audit :
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal financial policies.
- Liaise with auditors for internal and external audits, providing required documentation and explanations.
- Vendor and Expense Management :
- Manage relationships with suppliers and service providers, ensuring invoices are processed and paid on time.
- Ensure cost control measures are in place to minimize unnecessary expenses and optimize operational efficiency.
- Reporting and Analysis :
- Generate periodic financial reports for senior management, providing insights into financial performance, cash flow, and cost optimization.
- Revenue Management :
- Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to maximize profitability through accurate revenue tracking.
- Team Collaboration :
- Provide financial guidance and support to department staff as needed.
- System and Process Improvement :
- Identify opportunities to enhance accounting systems, processes, and reporting efficiency.
- Implement improvements to ensure accurate financial data and streamlined workflows.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s degree or professional qualifications such as CA/CPA preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management, preferably in a publishing or media environment.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Tally, QuickBooks, or other ERP systems).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
