Reports To: Head of School / Principal
Job Summary:
The Deputy Head of School provides strategic and operational support to the Head of School,
ensuring smooth daily operations and contributing to the long-term success of the school. The
Deputy Head is responsible for managing aspects of curriculum, staff development, student
discipline, and school policies, promoting academic excellence and a positive school culture.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership and School Culture
● Support the Head of School in setting and implementing school-wide policies, goals, and
standards.
● Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful school culture that promotes student and staff
engagement.
● Serve as a role model for staff and students, demonstrating professionalism and ethical
behavior.
2. Academic Oversight
● Oversee curriculum development and implementation, ensuring alignment with school
and district standards.
● Monitor and support academic programs to improve student outcomes across K-12
grades.
● Work with department heads and teachers to develop innovative teaching strategies and
integrate technology in classrooms.
3. Staff Development and Supervision
● Assist in recruiting, onboarding, and evaluating teachers and support staff.
● Conduct regular teacher observations and provide constructive feedback to improve
instructional quality.
● Develop and coordinate professional development opportunities for faculty and staff.
4. Student Discipline and Support
● Oversee and enforce the school’s discipline policies, ensuring a safe and supportive
environment.
● Work closely with counselors and support staff to address students’ behavioral,
emotional, and academic needs.
● Foster positive relationships with students and encourage leadership and responsibility
among them.
5. Parental and Community Engagement
● Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, addressing concerns and building
relationships.
● Collaborate with community stakeholders to enhance school programs and student
opportunities.
● Represent the school at meetings, events, and conferences as needed.
6. Operational and Administrative Duties
● Assist in creating and managing the school’s budget and resource allocation.
● Oversee daily school operations, including scheduling, facility management, and
emergency procedures.
● Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations affecting school policies.
7. Strategic Planning and School Improvement
● Collaborate on long-term school improvement initiatives and strategic goals.
● Use data-driven approaches to assess and address academic performance, student
wellbeing, and staff effectiveness.
● Develop and implement action plans to address areas needing improvement, and report
progress to the Head of School.
Qualifications:
● Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field (required).
● At least 15 years of teaching experience at IGSCE / IB Schools, with proven leadership experience in a school setting.
● Strong understanding of K-12 educational standards, curriculum development, and
teaching methodologies.
● Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
● Ability to manage complex situations and make data-driven decisions.
● Familiarity with technology in education, including learning management systems and
online resources.
