AVP Medical Coding Role

We are seeking an experienced AVP Medical Coding professional to lead our team's daily operations, including workload and staffing, hiring, disciplining, and performance appraisals, training, and quality of work monitoring.

  • Oversees the operational efficiency of the coding unit, ensuring effective management and productivity.
  • Develops and implements long-term and short-term goals, objectives, plans, and programs to drive success.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to plan, develop, and control budgets, focusing on staffing costs, capital equipment, and operations.
  • Evaluates the impact of innovations and changes in programs, policies, and procedures for the coding unit.
  • Designs and implements systems and methods to enhance data accessibility, resolves problems, and prepares administrative reports.
  • Ensures the effective operation and monitoring of the coding compliance program, developing and coordinating educational and training programs regarding documentation and accurate coding.
  • Communicates regulatory, policy, and guideline changes to relevant staff.
  • Conducts and oversees coding audit efforts, monitoring accuracy and documentation adequacy.
  • Reports non-compliance issues, corrective action plans, and follow-up audit results.
  • Identifies patterns and variations in coding practices through trend analysis.
  • Reviews claim denials and rejections related to coding and medical necessity, implementing corrective action plans when necessary.
