Engineering Manager, Workspaces Lead

Workspaces Team OverviewThe workspaces team at Postman plays a crucial role in establishing workspaces as a source of truth for the company. This team owns tier-0/1 business-critical systems handling approximately 21 million requests daily. Their work directly impacts Postman's end-users, experience, and business, contributing to organization goals such as Monthly Active Users, Self-serve revenue, and Sales-serve revenue.
Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our workspaces team. As a key member of this team, you will help take workspaces to the next level by driving initiatives that require close collaboration with community, product, and business stakeholders. Your focus will be on improving the end-user experience, constantly striving for excellence to establish Postman as the best tool for API collaboration.
Responsibilities- Understand Postman's vision and ensure the team comprehends how their work fits into the larger scheme.
- Grow and develop teams, drive conversations on career development, and align growth with long-term vision and business needs.
- Own and drive engineering/technical strategy for the team, delivering business-critical initiatives within specified timelines and contributing to the product roadmap.
- Participate in end-to-end recruiting, hiring, and onboarding exceptional engineering talent.
- Define, measure, and own key metrics for performance evaluation.
- Identify broader problems, provide multi-quarter roadmaps, and prioritize effectively with stakeholders and leadership.
- Collaborate with peers in Product, Design, and Engineering to craft best practices, guidelines, and standards.
- Be well-versed in software architecture and design, participating in design reviews and code reviews.
- You are responsible for End User Experience, Performance, Security, and High Availability of the product, aiming for 99.99 availability.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum 7 years of software development experience in one or more programming languages (e.g., C, C++, Java, JavaScript, NodeJS).
- 3 years of experience in technical leadership roles building exceptional products that deliver delightful experiences for end customers.
- 2+ years of people management experience.
- Experience building Microservices architectures.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Lots of smiles and empathy.
- Experience in building customer-based products at scale.
- Experience working on standardizing and solving common problems in engineering in a growing company.
