The role of a credit manager involves making high-quality credit decisions by assessing home loan applications in line with Australian credit policies.
Key Responsibilities:- End-to-end assessment and decision-making of home loan/mortgage applications is required.
- Perform income verification, credit checks, property valuation reviews, and responsible lending assessments to ensure accurate and timely decision-making.
- Liaise with brokers, lenders, and internal teams for clarifications or documentation gaps to maintain effective communication channels.
- Provide timely and high-quality credit decisions while meeting Service Level Agreements (SLA) and compliance standards.
- Ensure adherence to the National Consumer Credit Protection Act (NCCP) and other regulatory requirements.
- Mentor and guide junior underwriters, and support process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
- Prepare reports on pipeline, SLAs, and quality metrics to facilitate informed business decisions.
Requirements:
- A graduate or postgraduate degree in Finance, Commerce, or a related field is essential.
- Minimum 5 years of mortgage underwriting experience, with at least 2–3 years in the Australian home loan domain, is required.
- A strong understanding of Australian credit policies and responsible lending guidelines is necessary.
- Exposure to multiple lenders is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills are essential for success in this role.
- Ability to work in fast-paced environments and meet deadlines is crucial.
