Job Description

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform database installation, configuration, and administration for DMSII systems.
  • Monitor database performance, space utilization, and availability on mainframes.
  • Manage sets, subsets, and indexes to optimize data access.
  • Handle backups, journals, and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity.
  • Support schema changes and perform database reorganizations as needed.
  • Collaborate with teams to troubleshoot performance or access issues.
  • Participate in disaster recovery testing and ensure compliance with backup policies.
  • Implement security, audit trails, and user access controls.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong hands-on experience with Unisys DMSII database administration.
  • Knowledge of DMUTILITY, DMSUPPORT, and database reorganization tools.
  • Understanding of journaling, quiet point backups, and roll-forward recovery.
  • Experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting database issues.
  • Familiarity with COBOL, ALGOL, or other mainframe application integration.
  • Knowledge of batch jobs, JCL equivalents, and operational support tasks.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of proven experience as a DMSII DBA or mainframe DBA.
  • Willingness to work in rotational shifts (if required).
