Database Administrator Position

This is a critical role that requires strong technical skills and experience in managing and supporting MS SQL Database.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in failover cluster configuration, always-on setup, new server provisioning, transaction replication, link servers, hardening, and patching in day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor log and event files to identify potential errors and incidents.
  • Ensure database availability for business applications.
  • Report on the status of log replications as per agreed schedules.
  • Monitor sessions, queries, logs, and latches for optimal performance.
  • Purge database logs and trace files to maintain data integrity.
  • Review and update configurations to maintain consistency.
  • Recommend measures to improve database availability and report on monthly metrics.
  • Respond to database-related incidents and drive corrective action.
  • Tune database parameters for optimal performance.
  • Correlate related incidents into problem tickets and manage through the problem management process.
  • Restore databases and support the SQL DB L2 team for critical issues.
  • Handle database performance issues and major incidents.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Strong experience with team management.
  • Ability to handle major incidents and root cause analysis.
  • Expertise in database installation and troubleshooting.
  • Proven skills in always-on cluster configuration and management.
  • Failover cluster management expertise.
  • Experience with patching and failover cluster/always-on.
  • Replication and link server configuration skills.
  • Database patching and hardening knowledge.
  • Job scheduling and maintenance plan expertise.
  • Preparedness for POA and rollback plans on database migration.
  • Planning and execution of new projects related to databases.
