Mainframe Consultant

Job Description:

Mainframe consultants play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of mainframe systems. Key responsibilities include designing, implementing, and maintaining mainframe infrastructure, as well as optimizing system performance.

Mainframe systems are complex environments that require a high level of expertise to manage effectively. As a mainframe consultant, you will work closely with clients to understand their specific needs and develop tailored solutions to meet those needs.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, from implementing new mainframe infrastructure to optimizing existing systems for improved performance.

You will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing mainframe solutions that meet the client's business objectives. This may involve working with clients to gather requirements, designing and developing solutions, and implementing and testing those solutions.

As a mainframe consultant, you will also be responsible for providing technical guidance and support to clients, including training and documentation. You will work closely with other team members to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Database Management: Proficient in DB2 database management, including data modeling, database design, and query optimization.
  • Middleware Technologies: Experienced in CICS, MQ, and ZOS middleware technologies, including configuration, implementation, and troubleshooting.
  • Control and Automation: Knowledgeable in Control-M automation software, including job scheduling, workflow management, and exception handling.
  • Security and Compliance: Familiar with RACF security solutions, including user authentication, access control, and auditing.
  • Programming Languages: Skilled in COBOL programming language, including code review, quality assurance, and debugging.
  • Operating Systems: Experienced in Linux One operating system, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Networking: Knowledgeable in PCM networking protocols, including network architecture, configuration, and optimization.
