
Leading Industrial Relations Specialist

This role requires a senior human resources professional to lead and manage industrial relations, labor laws, employee relations, and HR initiatives across the organization. The successful candidate will play a pivotal part in driving positive industrial relations and ensuring compliance with statutory provisions.
Key Responsibilities:- Industrial Relations & Labor Laws:
- Maintain regular industrial relations activities, including dealings with contractors and monitoring contractual statutory records.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory provisions relating to industrial and labor laws.
- Provide professional advice on wage settlements, deal with union issues, and conduct enquiries, counseling employees, and initiate disciplinary actions when necessary.
- Manage temporary labor-related cases, follow up on court matters pending, and resolve the same.
- Coordinate with the corporate HR team to implement various HR processes and initiatives, providing support on welfare, safety, security, and general administration-related matters as needed.
- Formulate various welfare measures for employees and handle grievances of permanent and contractual employees.
- Consult with government authorities, ensure documentation, and safekeeping of all legal documents.
- Stay up-to-date on developments in labor laws and practices, suggesting management on all legal aspects of industrial relations.
- Employee Relations:
- Coordinate recruiting, selection, and employment process for the plant.
- Plan and monitor all administrative operations.
- Assess the current skill capabilities of the plant workforce, prepare the training calendar for up-skilling or multiskilling, and implement training programs.
- Manage internal facilities, such as canteens, transport, hospitalization, etc.
- Drive welfare activities, including celebrations, safety, annual day, facilities for women, environment, sports, service/attendance awards, etc.
- Plan and implement corporate social responsibility-oriented (CSR) activities, such as setting up or supporting pharmacies, health centers, schools, blood donation camps, etc.
- Prepare the yearly labor budget and periodically monitor budget vs. expenditure statements.
- Participate in union and IR issues as needed, develop recommendations, and/or support other staff.
- Negotiate with the union on annual review of pay and benefits, together with any structural changes and agreements.
- Ensure implementation of the Code of Conduct policy, provide counseling to employees periodically/as required, and take disciplinary action against non-conforming staff.
- Oversee the contract labor management system and ensure its compliance.
- Ensure attendance systems are operational, salary and wages of blue-collar workforces are paid on time, and maintain discipline in the plant.
- Implement blue-collar engagement activities.
- HR Initiatives:
- Be actively involved in suggestion programs, Kaizen, quality circles, Gemba walks, waste elimination, 5S activities, integrated management systems, and shopfloor improvement projects focused on people and process excellence.
- Promote diversity and inclusion initiatives, implement reward and recognition programs to boost motivation and productivity.
- Develop workforce policies/strategies in line with local demographic specific inputs to achieve organizational goals and objectives, ensuring available workforce as per requirement.
- Understand management strategies, interact with HODs and staff members.
- Resolve grievances of employees on the shop floor concerning HR and IR.
- Operate the best HR practice initiative and stay connected to departments.
Requirements:
- Stable candidate only.
- Candidates from Gujarat and nearby locations (local candidate preferred).
- Must have exposure to handling a workforce above 450+.
- Experience in handling unions is a must.
- Part of the long-term settlement is an added advantage.
- Exposure to HR practice is required.
- Team handling experience is a must.
- Pleasing personality and ability to handle complex situations.
