Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the ocean freight operations for FCL, LCL, and consolidation projects.
  • Develop and implement pricing strategies, negotiate rates with shipping lines, and build strong business relationships with co-loaders and overseas agents.
  • Oversee all aspects of import shipment handling, from pre-alerts to customs clearance and delivery.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure timely cargo clearance and delivery, aligning with company objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with international regulations, customs laws, and trade compliance requirements.
  • Establish Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and turnaround time for import processes.
  • Manage and mentor a team responsible for import operations – allocate resources, set Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), monitor performance, and provide ongoing training and development opportunities.
  • Monitor departmental profitability, maintain cost control, and prepare regular budgets.
  • Work closely with sales and business development teams to identify new opportunities and grow the import customer base.
  • Maintain high standards of customer service, promptly resolving issues and ensuring consistent client satisfaction.
  • Provide regular Management Information System (MIS) reports to senior management on import operations, cost efficiency, and process improvements.

Required Skills & Experience:

Strong knowledge of international import practices, customs clearance procedures, documentation, and INCOTERMS is essential.

Excellent leadership and people management abilities are required to drive success in this role.

Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills are necessary to achieve results.
