Senior Data Engineer – Data Modeler

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to lead our data modeling efforts. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing highly scalable data capture and transformation processes.

You will analyze and understand datasets, guide teams in creating source-to-target mappings and data dictionaries, capturing all relevant details. Profiling data sets will generate relevant insights, and you will define data modeling best practices, ensuring implementation across projects.

You will optimize data models and work with data engineers to define ingestion logic, ingestion frequency, and data consumption patterns. Collaboration with the quality assurance team will involve defining testing strategies.

Automation in modeling activities will be driven, and collaboration with business stakeholders, data owners, business analysts, and architects will design and develop next-generation data platforms.

Closely monitoring project progress and providing regular updates to leadership teams on milestones and impediments is essential. Creating effective ETLs/ELTs to move large volumes of data from operational systems to dimensional data models for analytics consumption is critical.

Acting as principal designer and reviewer for new data models, making data architectural decisions, working with database engineering and DBAs to create optimal physical data models, managing data modeling repositories, and supporting model-driven development are key responsibilities.

Defining and governing data modeling/design standards, tools, best practices, and related development methodologies, championing data lineage, metadata management, and data quality analysis processes, collaborating with business data analysts to design and model business intelligence semantic layers, expanding and growing existing platform capabilities to solve new data problems and challenges are essential tasks.

Ensuring all automated processes preserve data integrity by managing alignment of data availability and integration processes, identifying opportunities for new data acquisition and new uses for existing data resources, researching and making recommendations for new data management technologies and software engineering practices, defining data retention policy, establishing data governance best practices, and creating automated anomaly detection services are crucial duties.

Documenting and updating business continuity and disaster recovery procedures, engaging in ongoing collaboration with data architects, modelers, and other members to achieve common goals, providing guidance to development teams regarding best practices and design patterns for analytics solutions, coaching junior team members, producing and maintaining support documentation for ongoing operations, acting as support to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with production data models and services are also important responsibilities.
