Chief Data Architect Position

We are seeking a seasoned Chief Data Architect with expertise in CI/CD practices, Databricks (Spark), Python, and SQL.

Job Description:

  • Design, implement, and manage end-to-end data pipelines using GitHub Actions or equivalent tools to drive business growth and optimize operations.
  • Configure and maintain GitHub branch protection rules and workflows for seamless code integration and deployment ensuring efficient collaboration among teams.
  • Build, optimize, and debug large-scale Spark jobs in Databricks using modern DevOps/configuration management tools to maximize performance and scalability.
  • Automate Databricks deployments using Databricks Asset Bundles (DABs) or similar frameworks to reduce manual effort and enhance reliability.
  • Develop, test, and maintain robust data pipelines using Python and SQL to deliver accurate insights and inform strategic decisions.
  • Implement unit testing, validation, and quality checks for data workflows to ensure data integrity and consistency.
  • Manage multi-environment deployments (Dev, Stage, Prod) to guarantee business continuity and minimize downtime.
  • Write and maintain configuration files (YAML, JSON) for workflows, pipelines, and automation to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve configuration or syntax issues in YAML and related files to prevent disruptions and delays.
  • Ensure business continuity by keeping critical Databricks notebooks running reliably and making timely updates as needed.
  • Migrate legacy reports into modern, self-serve dashboards (Snowflake, Tableau, Power BI) to empower stakeholders with real-time visibility and insights.
  • Prioritize cross-functional collaboration to deliver data models, insights, and reporting that teams can trust and rely on.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong skills in SQL, Databricks (Spark), and Python/R to analyze complex data sets and drive meaningful insights.
  • Profound knowledge of GitHub and CI/CD practices (branch protection, GitHub Actions workflows) to optimize code integration and deployment.
  • Experience in implementing unit tests and quality checks in data workflows to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
  • Familiarity with Databricks Asset Bundles (DABs) or similar automation tools to automate deployments and reduce manual effort.
  • Proficiency in YAML configuration management, debugging, and error resolution to troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and debugging skills in data engineering workflows to identify and resolve complex problems efficiently.
  • Hands-on experience with Snowflake or another cloud data warehouse to design and implement scalable data architectures.
  • Good understanding of Tableau/Power BI dashboards and usability principles to create intuitive and user-friendly visualizations.
