Procurement Buyer Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Procurement Buyer to manage the procurement of automotive electrical and electronic commodities.

  • This involves strategic sourcing, vendor development, localization, and cost optimization of electrical and electronic parts used in vehicles.
  • The ideal candidate will work closely with suppliers, engineering, and quality teams to ensure reliable sourcing at competitive costs.

The successful candidate will have expertise in managing procurement operations, including vendor identification, evaluation, and development.

They will also be responsible for leading strategic sourcing initiatives to achieve best cost, quality, and delivery outcomes.

Additionally, they will conduct market trend analysis, raw material cost fluctuations, and new technologies in automotive electronics.

They will ensure compliance with IATF/ISO standards, OEM requirements, and ethical sourcing guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Manage procurement of automotive electrical and electronic commodities such as wiring harnesses, sensors & switches, relays, fuses, connectors, control units/ECUs, lighting systems, instrument clusters, and other electronic sub-systems.
  2. Lead strategic sourcing initiatives ensuring best cost, quality, and delivery.
  3. Drive localisation projects to reduce dependency on imports and improve supply chain resilience.
  4. Conduct vendor identification, evaluation, and development for new and existing suppliers.
  5. Carry out cost analysis, supplier negotiations, and benchmarking to achieve cost reduction targets.
  6. Collaborate with R&D, design, and quality teams for supplier alignment with technical requirements.
  7. Monitor supplier performance for QCD (Quality, Cost, Delivery) parameters and initiate improvements.
  8. Track market trends, raw material cost fluctuations, and new technologies in automotive electronics.
  9. Ensure compliance with IATF/ISO standards, OEM requirements, and ethical sourcing guidelines.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Proven expertise in strategic sourcing, vendor development, localization, and cost management.
  • Strong negotiation, cost analysis, and supplier management skills.
  • Exposure to APQP, PPAP, and supplier quality processes in the automotive industry.
  • ERP knowledge (SAP/Oracle or equivalent) and MS Office proficiency.
