The Shoe Category Lead plays a pivotal role in driving business success by developing and executing a compelling assortment strategy for the Footwear category. This involves offering the right products aligned with customer preferences and market trends, ensuring maximum ROI.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Achieve Category Goals: Develop a competitive and customer-relevant footwear assortment to achieve budgeted targets.
  • Plan Product Launches: Schedule product launches ahead of seasons to ensure timely execution of collections aligned with footwear trends and seasonal demands.
  • Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with planning teams to create assortments that balance style, price, and functionality for various consumer segments.
  • Analyze Performance: Monitor category performance to ensure budget discipline and profitability.
  • Select Product Lines: Choose product lines considering materials, design elements, comfort features, price points, and value propositions.
  • Finalize Assortment: Approve commercial selling prices to ensure competitiveness and profitability.
  • Understand Customer Behavior: Translate customer behavior, aspirations, activity-based requirements, and lifestyle trends into category offerings.
  • Conduct Competitor Analysis: Stay informed of market pricing, offers, and assortment strategies through regular competitor analysis.
  • Bridge Customer Needs: Collaborate with designers to develop products that meet customer needs and translate them into category offerings.
  • Lead Post-Launch Analysis: Analyze post-launch performance, identify gaps, and implement corrective measures quickly.
  • Promote Products: Work with the marketing team to highlight footwear launches through campaigns, influencer tie-ups, and digital platforms.
  • Visit Competitors: Lead market visits with the team to study competitor offerings, customer footfall, and retail execution.
  • Nurture Partnerships: Build and nurture long-term partnerships with footwear vendors and manufacturers, ensuring a consistent supply chain.
  • Develop Vendor Pipeline: Develop a pipeline of alternative vendors to safeguard supply and enable category scalability.
  • Orient Vendors: Provide inputs for vendor evaluation based on quality, pricing, capacity, and reliability.
  • Manage Orders: Oversee order placement and approval of materials, styles, molds, and pre-production samples.
  • Ensure Delivery: Ensure on-time delivery and resolve escalations related to vendor delays, quality issues, or material shortages.
  • Support Vendors: Support vendors with order consolidation, cost optimization, and bulk buying strategies.
  • Manage Open-to-Buy Budget: Optimize the Open-to-Buy (OTB) budget for the Footwear category to ensure maximum ROI.
  • Analyze Costing Structures: Guide commercial decision-making by analyzing costing structures, pricing strategies, and margin behavior.
  • Negotiate Commercial Terms: Lead vendor negotiations to achieve favorable commercial terms without compromising product quality.
  • Enhance In-Store Experience: Drive initiatives to enhance in-store experience, making footwear displays attractive, accessible, and customer-friendly.
  • Build High-Performing Team: Build, coach, and mentor a high-performing team to achieve category goals and develop footwear-specific expertise.
