Job Overview:

We seek an experienced Senior Production Engineer to lead and oversee production operations in Chennai. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in sheet metal fabrication, welding, CAD tools, and resource optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and supervise shop floor operations to achieve production targets, quality standards, and timely delivery.

  1. Plan, schedule, and prioritize production activities in line with project and client requirements.
  2. Provide technical expertise in sheet metal fabrication, TIG/MIG welding for stainless steel assemblies, assembly, and finishing processes.
  3. Oversight of resource allocation and optimization of manpower, materials, and equipment utilization.
  4. Ensure compliance with 5S, EHS, Kaizen, and lean manufacturing principles.
  5. Establish, implement, and monitor Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
  6. Collaborate with the Quality team to ensure robust in-process and final inspections.
  7. Analysis of production KPIs (output, downtime, rejection, efficiency) and implementation of corrective actions.
  8. Support integration of prototypes and new product designs into the production process in coordination with R&D.
  9. Mentorship and training of production team members on best practices, welding methods, and safety protocols.
  10. Initiation and leadership of process improvement, cost reduction, and productivity enhancement projects.
  11. Maintenance of production documentation for traceability, audits, and client requirements.
Requirements and Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

4–7 years of experience in production/manufacturing roles, with at least 2+ years in sheet metal fabrication and welding.

Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and other CAD software.

Hands-on expertise in TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) and MIG (Metal Inert Gas) welding for stainless steel assemblies.

Strong background in resource optimization, 5S, Kaizen, EHS, and lean manufacturing.

Proven leadership and team management experience.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Language proficiency: English and Tamil (Mandatory), Hindi (Optional).
