Senior Enterprise Database Specialist

Our organization is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Database Administrator to play a key role in ensuring the effective management and administration of our technology systems.
Key Responsibilities:- Ensure optimal performance of existing database systems by analyzing current configurations and recommending improvements.
- Collaborate with the IT Manager to establish secure database structures, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
- Manage and maintain Cloudera Data Platform (CDP) clusters for high availability and performance.
- Administer and monitor Apache Kafka clusters, including topic management, performance tuning, and security.
- Perform database administration tasks for Oracle, MySQL, and PostgreSQL systems, including backup, recovery, and performance tuning.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using Shell scripting and Ansible for deployment, monitoring, and configuration management.
- Work closely with data engineers and developers to optimize data pipelines and ensure data integrity across platforms.
- Implement and maintain security best practices across all data platforms.
- Investigate and resolve issues across the data stack in a timely manner.
- Take ownership of ongoing issues and act as an individual contributor.
- Design and implement database access systems, including tables, indexes, views, stored procedures, and triggers.
- Administer database replication between servers, both locally and remotely.
- Optimize database objects to improve performance.
- Provide on-call support outside regular working hours.
- Contribute technical expertise to solution development plans and concept documents.
- Understand business impacts of issues and relate them to IT-owned solutions.
- Communicate effectively in written and verbal form with cross-functional teams.
- Mentor junior IT Administrators and share knowledge within the team.
- Design and implement effective monitoring of enterprise systems.
- Improve systems through experience and deep knowledge of the area.
- Identify potential risks and communicate and mitigate those before problems arise.
- Document technical designs and procedures for the team library.
- Lead technical projects involving multiple teams.
- Explain technology to non-technical colleagues and management.
- Recognize and understand technology implications within the organization.
- Pursue continuous learning of new technologies and processes.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Participate in project planning activities, including estimation and delivery timelines.
- Complete other duties as necessary.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business, or a related field AND a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong academic record with demonstrated ability to apply learned knowledge.
- Fluency in English required.
- Experience with Relational or NoSQL databases.
- Proven ability to implement new technologies effectively.
- Excellent communication skills in a collaborative team setting.
- Consistently demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work documentation and organization.
- Experience with Big Data Technologies supporting various solutions, including HDFS, Kubernetes, Kafka, Elastic, SQL Server.
