Database System Specialist

Overview of Role and Responsibilities

As a seasoned professional in the field, you will collaborate with senior developers to design, test, plan, protect, and implement our databases.

The following key responsibilities are involved:

  • Designing, testing, planning, protecting, and implementing high-performance database architectures
  • Managing locking, process blocking, and performance tuning of databases to ensure optimal performance
  • Developing and maintaining monitoring and metrics tooling and dashboards for database performance and operation
  • Creating and maintaining backup and restoration processes, as well as ensuring their effectiveness
  • Managing infrastructure proactively to prevent potential issues and improve overall system efficiency
  • Handling support tickets when necessary and providing assistance to peers
  • Developing and deploying new database objects and changes to existing ones

Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Advanced understanding of relational database architecture and MSSQL
  • Knowledge of SSMS, SSRS, and support tooling
  • Proficiency in T-SQL, Stored Procedures, and day-to-day DB functions
  • Experience with Always on High Availability Groups is beneficial
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders
  • Participation in code reviews and providing constructive feedback
  • Adaptability to changing priorities and ability to work under pressure
