Software Engineering Director

Position Overview

This role combines strong technical expertise with exceptional leadership skills to oversee engineering teams. It requires deep knowledge of distributed systems and the ability to build, mentor, and scale high-performing engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership: Design and architect scalable healthcare claims processing systems; Lead system design reviews and technical decision-making for complex healthcare workflows; Ensure system reliability, performance, and security standards meet healthcare compliance requirements (HIPAA, GDPR)

  • People Management: Build, lead, and mentor a team of software engineers across multiple product areas; Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development planning; Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and technical excellence

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Product, Data, and Operations teams on feature planning and delivery; Translate business requirements into technical specifications and implementation roadmaps; Communicate technical concepts and trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 6+ years of software engineering experience with 1+ years in leadership roles; Strong system design experience with distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven architectures; Hand-on coding experience - ; Experience with real-time processing systems and high-volume transaction processing; Track record of successful large-scale system migrations or platform modernizations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with healthcare standards (HL7, FHIR); Knowledge of healthcare claims workflows and adjudication processes
