
Chief Data Protection Officer

This role will play a crucial part in ensuring our organization adheres to the highest standards of data protection compliance.
The key responsibilities include:
- Data Protection Compliance: Defining and monitoring de-identification and anonymization procedures for personal data collected within the organization.
- Risk Assessment: Identifying direct and indirect identifiers, performing risk assessment of datasets, including calculation of re-identification risks, and providing guidance for mitigation of such risks.
- Data Governance: Discussion with internal stakeholders about their data needs during planning phases and ensuring adherence to data protection regulations while retaining data usefulness.
- Personal Data Management: Differentiating between personal and anonymized data and routinely applying data avoidance and minimization principles.
- Technology Impact: Reviewing impact of technology introduction, particularly regarding re-identification (e.g. artificial intelligence), and suggesting appropriate measures.
- Compliance Representation: Interacting with data protection compliance organization and representing RD teams on this subject when necessary.
- Process Improvement: Proposing ideas to enhance established data handling processes within the organization.
This position requires:
- A consistent track record of at least 6+ years in a software RD function.
- Working experience of at least 2 years in a data protection role, with sound knowledge of GDPR and other data protection regulations and concepts (such as HIPAA).
- Thorough understanding of differences between personal and anonymized data and ability to apply data avoidance and minimization principles.
- Expertise in processing personal data and anonymization techniques (e.g., pseudonymization, obfuscation, k-anonymization, hashing, encryption, ...).
- Experience in minimizing and de-identifying healthcare data and familiarity with data formats specific to healthcare images and relevant standards such as DICOM and HL7.
- Experience interacting with Data Protection Authorities, Regulators or Government Agencies will be an added advantage.
- Certifications, such as Certification in Information Privacy Professional/ Europe (CIPP/E), CIPT, CIPM(GDPR), DCPP are a plus.

- Ability to demonstrate decisiveness and sound judgment on a consistent basis.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with ability to make statements build consensus.
- Remarkable ability to collaborate with different stakeholders and positively influence decision-making process on key topics concerning data protection.
- Excellent presentation skills with ability to facilitate groups of people (internal/external/both) operating at different levels (e.g. Internal External stakeholders, Technical Experts and peers).
- Ability to work in international teams, understanding inter-cultural sensitivity and adapting based on global needs.
