Procurement Leader Job Description

The procurement leader is a strategic visionary responsible for the acquisition function, ensuring timely procurement of goods and services that meet organizational standards. This role involves developing global sourcing strategies, managing supplier relationships, driving cost savings, and maintaining compliance with procurement policies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Sourcing & Leadership
    • Lead and manage the purchasing team, providing guidance, training, and performance management to ensure high-quality supply chain outcomes.
    • Develop and implement global procurement strategies to achieve cost savings, process efficiencies, and enhanced supplier relationships.
    • Establish policies and procedures to standardize and optimize procurement operations, aligning with business objectives.
  • Supplier Management & Negotiations
    • Source, evaluate, and develop suppliers worldwide to ensure high-quality, cost-effective, and reliable supply chains.
    • Negotiate complex contracts, pricing, and delivery terms with international and domestic vendors, building strong partnerships.
    • Monitor supplier performance through KPIs and regular reviews, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Operational Excellence
    • Oversee the creation, approval, and tracking of purchase orders, requisitions, and contracts to ensure seamless procurement processes.
    • Ensure alignment of purchasing activities with organizational goals, inventory requirements, and budget constraints.
    • Collaborate with Operations and Warehouse teams to forecast future supply needs, optimizing inventory levels.
  • Compliance & Reporting
    • Ensure compliance with corporate procurement policies and international trade regulations, maintaining accurate records and audit-ready documentation.
    • Prepare and present strategic purchasing reports, cost analysis, and market insights to executive management, supporting data-driven decision-making.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field, along with 7+ years of progressive procurement/purchasing experience, including at least 3 years in a managerial role.

Must Haves include excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, strong negotiation and relationship-building skills with global suppliers, ability to manage and mentor a team effectively, adaptability to dynamic environments and international time zones, and demonstrated success in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
