Senior Lending Strategist

Our organization is seeking an experienced Lead Credit Risk Specialist to lead the credit risk, underwriting, and portfolio management functions. This individual will play a pivotal role in setting up and driving the credit strategy, policies, and processes aligned with business objectives, while ensuring risk management standards and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor credit policies, frameworks, and processes for SME/MSME lending and supply chain financing.
- Oversee the credit appraisal and underwriting function, including assessment of borrower risk, financial due diligence, and creditworthiness evaluation.
- Manage portfolio quality, delinquency management, and design early warning mechanisms to mitigate risk.
- Collaborate with business, risk, and operations teams to balance growth objectives with prudent credit practices.
- Present credit proposals and portfolio performance updates to senior management and regulators as required.
- Build and mentor a high-performing credit team capable of handling scale.
- Stay updated with industry, regulatory, and market trends impacting SME/MSME lending.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- 8–15 years of experience in credit risk/underwriting, preferably with NBFCs, fintechs, or banks with strong SME/MSME exposure.
- Strong understanding of supply chain finance, bill discounting, invoice financing, and related credit products.
- Proven ability to build credit frameworks from scratch and manage large loan books with quality.
- In-depth knowledge of regulatory norms, compliance requirements, and RBI guidelines for NBFCs.
- Strong leadership, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- CA/MBA/FRM or equivalent qualification preferred.
