Job Title: Senior Infrastructure Engineer

The role of Senior Infrastructure Engineer requires a deep understanding of modern infrastructure management, particularly in relation to cloud-based systems.

  • Availability and Performance Management:
    • Prioritize the optimization of system availability, latency, and performance for our scalable SaaS application hosted on Azure.
    • Develop and enforce reliability standards, ensuring seamless user experiences.
  • Project Leadership and Collaboration:
    • Lead high-impact projects that drive business value, leveraging expertise in technical architecture, operations, and engineering.
    • Mentor junior engineers to foster growth and development within the team.
  • Error Budgeting and Observability:
    • Implement an error budgeting policy with multi-window alerts, clear runbooks, and defined paging thresholds.
    • Design and maintain comprehensive dashboards for SLOs (Service Level Objectives) and error budgets using tools like Azure Monitor, Grafana/Prometheus, and App Insights.
  • Incident Response and Communication:
    • Respond effectively to critical incidents, owning comms and leading blameless postmortems to improve processes.
    • Demonstrate strong customer escalations skills, communicating trade-offs and recovery plans confidently.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL, including HA/DR, logical/physical replication, performance tuning, and backup/restore testing.
    • Experience with Azure core services, including AKS, Front Door/App Gateway, API Management, VNets/NSGs/Private Link, Storage, Key Vault, Redis, Service Bus/Event Hubs.
  • IaC and Automation:
    • Proficiency in Terraform and/or Bicep for Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
    • Skills in PowerShell and Python for automation.
  • Cloud Security and Compliance:
    • Familiarity with cloud security best practices, including secure by default principles.
    • Understanding of compliance frameworks like SOC 2 and ISO 27001.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 12 years of experience in production operations/platform/SRE, with at least 5 years focused on Azure.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification.
  • Experience with Apache NiFi, Flink, Kafka, or Redpanda.
  • Familiarity with ITSM tools like ServiceNow and on-call tooling like PagerDuty/Opsgenie.
