
Category Product Leader

The role holder will be responsible for managing a category of fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) for an assigned region.
- He/she will lead a team of 8-10 members responsible for buying national and regional FMCG brands.
- He/she will conduct training sessions and groom team members, focusing on developing their skills.
- Regular meetings with key vendor partners will be conducted to negotiate prices, discuss forecasting and category development initiatives.
- Close collaboration with various teams, including Store Operations, Supply Chain, core Purchase, and Central Purchase, will be necessary to maximize sales and ensure best promotions in stores.
- Discuss and finalize monthly and quarterly plans with FMCG vendors, including demand planning, promotions, and smooth supplies to stores.
- Training and grooming purchase officers and assistant purchase managers will be essential.
- He/she must be available in distribution centers and stores day-in and day-out and maintain competitive pricing in the market.
- Travel across locations within the region assigned and PAN India may be required.
Requirements:
- A Graduate/Post Graduate/MBA with minimum 10 years' experience in FMCG Sales is required.
- Experience in General Trade is preferred. A similar role management experience is mandatory.
- Knowledge of the local language/location of posting is necessary.
- Good communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills are essential.
- Very good team management and training skills are required, as he/she will manage a large team and be responsible for training and grooming team members.
