Special Needs Music Educator

We are seeking a dedicated music educator to join our team of special educators at Lady Andal House of Children, an established special school in Chennai. Our school provides special education and vocational training for children and adults with Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Learning Disabilities, Intellectual Disabilities, and Down Syndrome.
Our mission is to support parents in the schooling journey of their special child by collecting a highly subsidised fee. We believe that every individual deserves access to quality education and opportunities for growth.
The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering lessons that accommodate varying learning styles and abilities, including students with autism, physical disabilities, learning difficulties, or emotional/behavioural challenges.
Responsibilities:- Plan and deliver lessons that cater to diverse learning needs using assistive technologies, visual aids, instruments, and alternative communication methods.
- Promote music as a tool for self-expression, communication, and emotional regulation, fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Collaborate with occupational therapists, speech therapists, and other specialists to integrate therapeutic goals into musical activities, ensuring holistic development.
- Assess student progress using tailored benchmarks, maintain accurate records, and contribute to Individualised Education Programs (IEPs).
- Maintain a safe and structured classroom environment, managing behaviour sensitively in line with our positive behaviour support policies.
- Organise performances, music therapy sessions, and school-wide musical events to showcase students' abilities and promote community engagement.
