The Role

We are looking for a skilled Music Educator who is passionate about supporting diverse learners and fostering inclusive education.

  • Plan and Deliver Lessons: Design music lessons that accommodate varying learning styles and abilities.
  • Use Adaptive Techniques: Utilise assistive technologies, visual aids, instruments, and alternative communication methods to support student participation.
  • Encourage Expression and Communication: Promote music as a means of self-expression, communication, and emotional regulation.
  • Therapeutic Integration: Collaborate with occupational therapists, speech therapists, and other specialists to integrate therapeutic goals into musical activities.
  • Assessment and Reporting: Assess student progress using tailored benchmarks; maintain accurate records and contribute to Individualised Education Programs.
  • Classroom Management: Maintain a safe, structured, and encouraging classroom environment; manage behaviour sensitively.
Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lesson Planning: Create engaging music lessons that cater to diverse learning needs.
  2. Adaptive Techniques: Utilize technology, visual aids, and instruments to support student participation.
  3. Expression and Communication: Foster music as a tool for self-expression, communication, and emotional regulation.
  4. Collaboration: Work with therapists and specialists to integrate therapeutic goals into musical activities.
  5. Assessment and Reporting: Monitor student progress, maintain records, and contribute to Individualised Education Plans.
  6. Classroom Management: Create a safe, structured, and encouraging learning environment.
Requirements

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Music Education or a related field.
  • 3-7 years of experience working with children in a mainstream or special school setting.
  • Teaching qualification or experience in special education (preferred).

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of inclusive teaching strategies and adaptive music education.
  • Ability to play an instrument and facilitate group music singing.
  • Fluency in Tamil language.
