Special Music Educator Position

The role of the special music educator is to provide high-quality music education to students with diverse abilities, including those with autism, physical disabilities, learning difficulties, or emotional/behavioral challenges.

To achieve this, the educator will design and implement music lessons that cater to varying learning styles and abilities. The educator will also promote music as a means of self-expression, communication, and emotional regulation.

The ideal candidate should possess expertise in designing and implementing music lessons for students with diverse needs. A training in music therapy or knowledge of therapeutic music practices is highly desirable.

Additional requirements include maintaining accurate records, contributing to individualized education programs (IEPs), managing behavior sensitively in line with positive behavior support policies, and organizing performances and school-wide musical events.

Key qualifications for the position include a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Carnatic/Hindustani music, a Certificate course in Music Therapy (preferable), teaching experience with children in mainstream or special schools, and knowledge of inclusive teaching strategies and adaptive music education.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to play an instrument, facilitate group music singing, and demonstrate a strong commitment to fostering inclusivity in music education.
