Job Opportunity: Music Educator

We are seeking a skilled music educator to join our team and contribute to the education of students with special needs.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in designing and implementing music lessons that accommodate varying learning styles and abilities, including students with autism, physical disabilities, learning difficulties, or emotional/behavioural challenges.

The role requires a strong understanding of adaptive techniques and the ability to utilise assistive technologies, visual aids, instruments, and alternative communication methods to support student participation.

The successful candidate will have experience working with children with special educational needs and will be able to demonstrate their knowledge of inclusive teaching strategies and adaptive music education.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Plan and deliver engaging music lessons that cater to diverse learning needs.
  • Utilise assistive technologies and adaptive techniques to promote student participation and engagement.
  • Develop and implement individualised music programs that address specific learning goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with occupational therapists, speech therapists, and other specialists to integrate therapeutic goals into musical activities.
  • Assess student progress using tailored benchmarks and maintain accurate records.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Music Education or a related field.
  • 3-7 years of experience working with children with special educational needs.
  • Teaching qualification or experience in special education.
  • Knowledge of Tamil language and culture (preferable).
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
