Job Title: Art Teacher for Children with Special Needs

We are seeking an experienced Art Teacher to join our team at Lady Andal House of Children. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching children with special needs and a proven track record of delivering engaging and adaptive art lessons.

About Us

Lady Andal House of Children is an established special school in Chennai, dedicated to providing special education and vocational training for children and adults with Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Learning Disabilities, Intellectual Disabilities, and Down Syndrome.

The Role

  • Teaching Art: Design and implement age-appropriate and ability-sensitive art activities, integrating therapeutic and educational goals into the lesson plan.
  • Classroom Instruction: Deliver engaging and adaptive lessons using various media, modifying activities and materials to accommodate students with different abilities and learning styles.
  • Assessment and Reporting: Observe and evaluate student progress, documenting achievements and collaborating with special educators and therapists to set individual goals and strategies.
  • Classroom Management: Create a safe, positive, and structured environment that supports the emotional and sensory needs of students, managing classroom behaviour effectively and empathetically.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, Special Education, or a related field.
  • Certification or training in special education (preferred or required).
  • 3-7 years working with children and adults with multiple disabilities.
  • Prior experience working with children with special needs is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, patience, creativity, empathy, and adaptability.
