Job Overview

This role is focused on delivering strategic IT support for application environments and interfaces.

The position involves diagnosing, resolving, and analyzing technical issues to ensure the smooth operation of systems.

A key responsibility will be to manage and provide technical support for core business application environments, ensuring 24x7 availability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Focus: Ensure operational support and continuous improvement of infrastructure estate and processes for Development and Test environments, including System, Load, Performance, UAT.
  • Automation and Efficiency: Leverage automation, process efficiency, and tooling to reduce cycle times, improve reliability, audit, and traceability for all system deployments across multiple applications.
  • Process Excellence: Establish and maintain consistent process, best practice, and system build standards, continuously improving upon them.
  • Team Enablement: Ensure the Development Team has the right environment to maximize efficacy, removing obstacles and introducing automation where appropriate.
  • Operational Management: Ensure Production is managed, supported, and controlled with the appropriate level of governance and agility.
  • Production Environment: Protect Production environments by implementing governance, good practice/process, design, and 'fit for purpose' environments to the left of Pre-Prod, supporting all project and change activity.
  • Release Management: Ensure project and change releases are packaged to the right quality, repeatable between environments without change or modification, and deployed to the target environments – ultimately to Production without detriment or issue in agreed timescales.
  • Software Design: Challenge software and application design, contributing to design in any Change/Project, ensuring it is aligned to the constraints of the Project/Change.
  • Culture of Continual Improvement: Address weak points in Process, Technology, and Service through a culture of continual improvement.
  • Documentation: Document software and processes to ensure single points of knowledge do not become a problem and skills are distributed across the team and department.
  • Status Reporting: Provide status reporting and updates as requested by the Line/Project/Change Lead.
  • People Leadership: Provide skilled resource to Project/Change Leads suited to the delivery. Manage a team of Test Environment Engineers & Middleware specialists and support environment management on non-prod environments.
  • Technical Skills: Develop technical skills required for test environment management function for self and the team.
  • Global Support: Provide EDT support along with the Global team as part of test environment management team.
  • Governance and Risk: Ensure SLAs are met (Environment Availability, Responsiveness to Requests etc); Percentage of Releases/Deployments to Production without issue; Post deployment Incident levels achieving set targets; Server patch levels adhere to policy; Percentage of formal processes documented.
