Sr Database Administrator

Our team is seeking a skilled Sr Database Administrator to manage and maintain our SQL Server database infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of SQL Server versions from 2005 to 2022, including patching hierarchy, build numbers, and internal database build numbers.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, configure, and manage SQL Server versions from 2005 to 2022.
  • Patching hierarchy knowledge including Service Packs, Cumulative Updates, Hotfixes (GDR, QFE).
  • Understanding of SQL Build numbers and Internal Database build numbers for efficient database management.
  • Migrate SQL Server from older to newer versions, including migration strategies.
  • Configure linked servers between same or different SQL Server versions for seamless data integration.
  • Design recovery models and implement backup strategies for optimal database protection.
  • Fine-tune backups by using advanced parameters like Backup Encryption, Compression, MAXTRANSFERSIZE, BUFFERCOUNT, BLOCKSIZE, and CHECKSUM.
  • Handle master, model, MSDB, TEMPDB, and Resource database corruptions with expertise.
  • Configure high availability and disaster recovery solutions like Log Shipping, Mirroring, Clustering, Always-On AG, and Replication for business continuity.
  • Proficiency in Windows Cluster, Quorum, Dynamic Quorum, Voting Mechanism, and Failover concepts.
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL Server Cluster scenarios, including failover, adding disks to existing instances, and configuring cluster parameters.
  • Manage complex Always-On AG scenarios, including failover, adding new data/log files, and understanding lease timeout, health check timeout, and failure condition level parameters.
Required Skills:
  • Strong understanding of SQL Server Architecture, T-SQL, Triggers, Procedures, and database administration.
  • Expertise in high availability/disaster recovery solutions, clustering, and Always-On Group configuration.
  • Replication configuration and management, patch management, and server capacity monitoring.
  • Automation using scripts and tools for backup, monitoring, resource utilization, HA alerts, and capacity plan management.
  • SQL Server tuning and optimization techniques.
