Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned Azure Lead MS-SQL DBA to oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of Microsoft SQL Server databases within the Azure cloud environment.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Azure administration, MS-SQL administration, and database security principles. They should be proficient in performance tuning and optimization techniques, as well as automation tools and scripting.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring high availability, performance, and security of data for various applications, as well as provisioning, configuring, and managing Azure SQL Databases, Managed Instances, and SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and monitor HA/DR strategies such as Always On Availability Groups, geo-replication, and failover groups
  • Plan and execute robust backup and restore operations
  • Monitor database performance using Azure Monitor, SQL Insights, and Query Store
  • Identify and resolve bottlenecks by optimizing queries, indexes, and resource allocation
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you must have:

  • 8+ years of experience in Azure MS-SQL database administration
  • Lead-level experience with Azure and on-prem MS-SQL Database administration
  • Hands-on experience with managing Oracle OCI or Azure VM, Network, and Security
  • Experience with large-scale complex database architecture with Replications and DR
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and Transact-SQL (T-SQL)
  • Proficiency in performance tuning and optimization techniques
  • Experience with database security principles and implementation
  • Familiarity with automation tools and scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Azure CLI)
