Job Title: Data Specialist

 

As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in implementing and adopting a data governance framework that will transform our data ecosystem and establish us as a leader in biopharma innovation. This role leverages cutting-edge technologies, including Generative AI, Machine Learning, and integrated data. You will utilize your expertise in domain, technical, and business process areas to provide exceptional support for our data governance framework. Collaborating closely with stakeholders and data analysts, you will ensure the seamless implementation and adoption of this framework.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop and implement the data governance and management framework for the Research domain of the biopharma lifecycle.
  • Operationalize the Enterprise data governance framework and align the broader stakeholder community with their data governance needs, including data quality, access controls, compliance with regulations, master data management, data sharing, communication, and change management.
  • Work with Enterprise MDM and Reference Data to enforce standards and promote data reusability.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment within your area of expertise to ensure adherence to data governance principles.
  • Document data definitions, standards, flows, legacy structures, common models, harmonization, and other relevant information for assigned domains.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy, security, and regulatory policies for assigned domains.
  • Jointly define specifications with technology teams, business functions, and enterprise teams (e.g., MDM, Enterprise Data Fabric) shaping the development and implementation of data foundations.
  • Build strong relationships with key business leads and partners to ensure their needs are met.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Technical skills with knowledge of Pharma processes and specialization in the Research domain of the biopharma lifecycle.
  • In-depth knowledge of data management, common data models, metadata management, data quality, master data management, data stewardship, protection, etc.
  • Experience with data products development life cycles, including enablement of dictionaries, business glossaries, and increased data reusability and literacy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a customer-focused approach who can confidently work with internal stakeholders and external service partners on business process and technology topics.
  • Experience working with or supporting systems used in data governance frameworks (e.g., Collibra, Alation).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in finding solutions.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Experience working with data governance councils or forums.
  • Experience with Agile software development methodologies (Scrum).
  • Proficiency in data analysis and quality tools (e.g., SQL, Excel, Python, or SAS).
