Job Description

As a seasoned accounting professional, you will oversee the financial operations of a portfolio of commercial properties, ensuring compliance with lender, tax, and investor requirements. You will work closely with third-party property teams, reviewing their accounting for consistency, accuracy, and proper accounting practices.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing overall property level accounting
  • Overseeing 3rd party property teams and reviewing their accounting practices
  • Reviewing cash management, including weekly check fundings and financial reports
  • Preparing annual budgets and quarterly budget re-projections
  • Calculating tax basis amortization and depreciation
  • Providing support to 3rd party MRI users and reviewing operating and tax escalations
  • Managing loan compliance and preparing unaudited financial reports as required
  • Preparing audited financial statements with footnotes (FV and Tax basis)
Required Skills & Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • 5-8 years of property accounting experience, with the majority in commercial real estate
  • Experience with funds and/or joint ventures
  • Knowledge of fair value GAAP, tax accounting, and IFRS
  • Proficiency with tenant recoveries (CAM) and understanding of waterfall calculations
  • Experience in year-end audit, including preparation of financial statements and footnotes
  • Ability to work independently, communicate effectively, and multitask
  • Proficiency with financial software systems and Microsoft Windows software programs
