Job Overview

The Ocean Freight Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing and controlling all ocean freight operations within the region. This involves ensuring compliance with regulations, maintaining service quality, and driving cost efficiency.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Operational Oversight: Manage and control all aspects of ocean freight operations, including FCL, LCL, imports, and exports in the West region.
  • Financial Performance: Drive revenue growth, optimize gross profit margins, and minimize costs for the ocean freight product in the region.
  • Relationship Management: Foster strong relationships with carriers, NVOCCs, and vendors to secure competitive procurement rates and optimal space allocation.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with sales and account management teams to drive business growth, enhance customer satisfaction, and expand market share in key trade lanes.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track regional performance through key performance indicators (KPIs) such as transit times, documentation accuracy, and operational efficiency, taking corrective action to ensure service reliability.
Key Requirements:
  • A degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field is essential.
  • Minimum 10-12 years of relevant experience in logistics, preferably with regional or P&L responsibilities.
  • Critical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, both short-term and long-term.
  • Familiarity with international trade regulations and customs processes is required.
  • Leadership Capabilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong leadership, stakeholder management, and team development capabilities.
