Database Administrator Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator to oversee the maintenance and optimization of our database systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor log and event files for errors that may cause incidents
  • Maintain database availability through disaster recovery monitoring and replication
  • Ensure log replication status is reported according to agreed schedules
  • Track session/query/log/latch activity for potential issues
  • Purge database logs and trace files regularly
  • Review configurations to maintain consistency
  • Analyze and provide recommendations for maintaining high availability
  • Generate monthly reports on database availability
  • Address imminent failures by monitoring logged system events
  • Reconfigure log shipping and transaction replication
  • Manage failover clustering, Always ON, and link servers
  • Respond to database-related incidents and drive corrective action
  • Tune database parameters for optimal performance
  • Correlate related incidents into problem tickets and manage through the problem management process
  • Use trend analysis to identify, detail, categorize, prioritize, and create problem management records
  • Restore databases from backups
  • Support critical issues with the SQL DB L2 team
  • Solve end-to-end major incidents and communicate production issues to stakeholders
  • Create jobs/schedules for routine/maintenance jobs and rebuild indexes

  • Always ON cluster configuration and management (mandatory)
  • Failover cluster management (mandatory)
  • Patching and failover cluster/Always ON (mandatory)
  • Replication and link server configuration (mandatory)
  • Database patching and hardening (mandatory)
  • Job scheduling and maintenance planning
  • Prepared POA and rollback plan on database migration (mandatory)
  • Planning and execution of new projects related to databases
  • Troubleshooting database performance issues
