Job Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled professional to fill the position of Freelance PostgreSQL Database Administrator. As a remote contractor, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining PostgreSQL databases in enterprise environments.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in PostgreSQL, Cloud SQL (MySQL), and advanced SQL performance tuning. Additionally, experience with cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP is desired.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL databases
  • Perform advanced SQL performance tuning and query optimization
  • Manage database upgrades, migrations, patching, and version control
  • Implement and monitor replication, clustering, and failover solutions for high availability
  • Ensure database security, compliance, integrity, and backup/recovery strategies
  • Collaborate with development teams to optimize SQL queries and improve database architecture
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, providing on-call support for critical systems
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including standards, procedures, and architecture diagrams

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as a DBA with PostgreSQL
  • Strong expertise with Cloud SQL (MySQL) and advanced SQL performance tuning
  • Solid background in Oracle DBA, including RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, and performance tuning
  • Proficiency in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries
  • Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems for database administration
  • Familiarity with cloud environments
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills

Nice to Have:

  • Experience migrating from SQL to PostgreSQL
