
Senior Category Manager

Job Description:
- The Senior Category Manager will be responsible for leading the FMCG team across the assigned region. He/She will oversee category management for approximately 20-30 stores, focusing on national and regional FMCG brands.
- He/She will lead a team of 8-10 members, conducting classroom and on-the-job training. The individual will groom and develop team members reporting to him/her.
- The Senior Category Manager will coordinate and address challenges in buying and movement of goods from vendor to DC and DC to stores, ensuring smooth business operations.
- He/She will closely work with Store Operations, Supply Chain, Purchase, and Central Purchase teams to maximize off-takes and ensure best promotions in stores.
- Discuss and close monthly and quarterly plans with FMCG vendors, including demand planning, promotions, and smooth supplies to stores.
- Responsible for training and grooming Purchase Officers and Assistant Purchase Managers through on-the-job and classroom trainings.
- He/She will solely be responsible for product availability in DCs and stores day-in-day-out. Maintaining competitive pricing in the market is a core job requirement. Willingness to travel across locations within the assigned region and PAN India is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- To manage a large team of sales professionals across the assigned region.
- Will be working closely with multiple stakeholders including store operations, supply chain, purchase and central purchase teams to drive growth.
- Developing and implementing strategies to enhance sales performance and profitability.
- Analyzing market trends and competitor activity to inform purchasing decisions.
- Working closely with vendors to negotiate contracts and agree on promotional plans.
- Managing inventory levels and optimizing stock holding to minimize waste and losses.
- Staying up-to-date with industry developments and changes in consumer behavior.
Requirements:
- Graduate/Post Graduate/MBA with a minimum of 10 years of experience in FMCG Sales.
- Experience in General Trade will be preferred. Must be experienced in managing a similar role.
- Knowledge of local language/location of posting is required. Must be willing to travel.
- Good communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills are essential.
- Excellent team management and training skills are necessary as he/she will be managing a large team and responsible for training and grooming team members.
