Revenue Accountant Job Description

Job Overview

Our organization is seeking a skilled Revenue Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing end-to-end revenue accounting processes, ensuring accurate and timely recognition in compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and manage end-to-end revenue accounting processes, including revenue recognition, contract review, and financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as Sales, Legal, and FP&A, to assess deal structures and ensure alignment with revenue recognition policies.
  • Prepare and maintain revenue schedules, journal entries, and reconciliations for month-end and quarter-end close.
  • Analyze deferred revenue, billing schedules, and revenue forecasts to support financial reporting and audit readiness.
  • Partner with IT and finance systems teams to enhance automation and reporting capabilities related to revenue.
  • Support external audits and internal controls by providing documentation and insights into revenue processes.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in revenue accounting or revenue recognition, preferably in a SaaS, technology, or services environment.
  • CPA or CA qualification.
  • Strong understanding of ASC 606 / IFRS 15 and practical application in complex contract scenarios.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle) and revenue sub-ledgers or modules.
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, reconciliations); experience with BI tools like Power BI or Tableau is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with finance, legal, and sales teams.
